Details: The family of Goniaties includes the most ancient representatives of the group called Ammonites. Goniaitite were mollusks characerized by a spiral shell divided into chambers, of which only the last was occupied by the animal while the others were used to provide buoyancy in the water. They reached the peak of their evolution during the Devonian (about 360 million years ago) and became extinct at the end of the Triassic (230 million years ago). Their fossilized shells are found in the rocks of South Morocco.
